What Is a UT Type Line Clamp?

The UT type line clamp is a common fitting used in overhead power line systems.

It adopts a wedge-type self-locking structure that securely grips the steel strand in its groove.

This clamp is typically installed at the lower end of guyed poles or towers, ensuring tension stability and preventing conductor slippage.

Apply Lubricant Before Installation

Before assembly, apply a suitable lubricant on the threads to reduce friction and avoid thread seizure during tightening.

Check the Guy Wire Condition

Ensure the bent section of the guy wire has no loose strands.
The wire end must be firmly fixed to the main wire. The tail wire length exposed at the clamp should be 3–5 cm, and the tail must be bent back and tied tightly.

Correct Clamp Direction and Alignment

The tongue plate of the clamp should fit tightly against the guy wire, leaving no slipping when under load.
The convex side of the clamp should face the tail wire, and care must be taken not to damage the steel strands during installation.

Follow Proper Binding Requirements

Use 3.2 mm galvanized iron wire for binding.
Wrap 15 turns on the long end and 5 turns on the short end, twisting the wire tail securely.
The short end should leave about 25 mm from the line tail. Wrapping should be even, tight, and neat.

Tighten the Nuts Correctly

After installing the nuts, the bolt should expose about one-third of the total thread length.
When fully tightened, the double nuts should be locked tightly together to prevent loosening during operation.

Align Directions for Double Clamps

When two clamps are used on the same guy wire with a connection plate, ensure the tail wire direction is consistent for balanced force and better appearance.
